Kids at Play is Now in Roxborough

Kids at Play, a popular indoor playground and therapy space that was located in East Falls, has moved to Roxborough and will be opening soon.

Kids at Play has been in East Falls since 2016 and is making the move to Roxborough to provide more space to play. The new location is 7201 Ridge Avenue. The new facilities will open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 31. This new playground will have a larger sensory play area and more rooms to offer therapy sessions.

Therapy Offered Through Kids at Play

The Kids at Play Center offers outpatient occupational, speech, and physical therapies for children. They will soon have a new Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) program as well. Kids at Play focuses on offering a fun environment kids look forward to coming to for their therapy sessions. The center accepts insurance and Medicaid.

The director of operations Julia Bookbinder shared with phillyvoice news, “Our goal here is to be open and welcoming to every type of family that there is.”

Kids at Play Feels Like Community

Kids at Play has a focus on building a community atmosphere rather than a typical clinical medical experience. They understand that medical appointments can quickly feel overwhelming and produce uneasy feelings for patients and their caregivers.

The director of operations is also the founder of Kids at Play. Bookbinder took social work courses through Temple University and saw the need for a therapy provider that created a comfortable environment where kids could let go of apprehension and parents could feel the stress of anxious children melt away as kids feel at home. This is why Kids at Play was created.

It is a place to play and receive therapy treatments without being able to differentiate who is receiving therapy. It is what the company likes to call a natural environment. It uses the fact that kids learn best and retain learning when their mind is at ease and they are enjoying the physical play.

It has always been a goal of Kids at Play to expand their space to offer more therapy options and of course more play space.

The New Expanded Kids at Play Center

The first space in East Falls was 7,000 square feet. This new space in Roxborough was a year in the real estate search adventure. The new space is 9,000 square feet. New features include a dedicated birthday party area and nine therapy rooms with new high-tech equipment in a separate wing.
